Occasionally, you create a layout for which you'd like to journal several
paragraphs... a special holiday or celebration, your child's birth, how you met
your spouse, etc.
Occasionally, too, you create a layout for which you have many photos.
What to do when these two occasions collide? Hidden journaling is the best
answer... but so many of the hidden journaling options involve pulling out the
page or cutting the page protector in order to read it.
The next option: Pull-Up Journaling! This will allow you to put several photos
on your page AND journal that long story in the same layout. It's also a great
way to hide private journaling, that from-the-heart message to a loved one that
you'd rather be seen only by the recipient.

One 9x12 or 10x13 manila envelope
Grosgrain ribbon
Scotch Tape
Journaling printed on cardstock
Scissors
Background cardstock for a layout
INSTRUCTIONS:
-
Take a 9x12 envelope, seal
closed. Cut in half.
-
In Word or other word
processing program, type your journaling to measure 5" x 8". If
you need help, you can follow the "Using Word for your
Journaling" instructions. Using text boxes, you can easily fit
both sets of journaling on one sheet of 8.5x11 cardstock.
-
Print the journaling on
cardstock.
-
Trim the journaling to 5" x
8".
-
Cut two 13" lengths of
ribbon.
-
Take one envelope half and
put it down seam-side up.
-
Tape one end of the ribbon
inside the envelope, all the way to the bottom sealed end, on
the side opposite the seam. Put another piece of tape across the
ribbon near the opening, for stability. (Figure 3)

-
Flip the envelope and ribbon
over and tape the other end of the ribbon to the center bottom
of the back of the journaling piece. Make sure it can slide into
the envelope, with the ribbon folding up behind the journaling.

-
Cut a 2" piece of ribbon for
the pull tab and tape it to the back of the journaling. You
could also use an eyelet or brad to attach the ribbon OR you
could use a charm for the pull tab. Be creative! (Figure 5)

journaling (Step 9)
-
Tuck journaling into the
envelope so the ribbon folds down the back of the journaling.

-
Adhere to the back top of
the page so the top of the envelope is even with the top of the
cardstock. (Figure 7)

To read the journaling, pull
the ribbon tab up. (Figure 8)
