There
really ARE very few Dos and Don'ts in scrapbooking because it, like life, is
very personal to each individual. These Dos and Don'ts are suggestions,
that's all.

DOs
DO enjoy what you're doing and have fun with it! If you don't, what's the point?
DO
research on the web for new techniques, good deals on supplies and new fonts for
your title and journaling.
DO
take advantage of scrapbooking conventions at the large cities near you.
You can learn new techniques from stores and vendors, get good deals on new
products, and get make-and-takes from most vendors there. Some can be
costly, so DO check to see what you'll be able to do once you're there.
DO
talk to the subjects of your photos or others who know them to get their take on
what was happening in the photos for your journaling.
DO
let photos printed from your computer DRY for at least 24 hours before you
attempt to crop them. If the ink isn't completely dry, it may stick to
your cropping tools and peel off of the photo paper.
DON'Ts
DON'T
be afraid to use your computer for titles and journaling. It's preferable
to do your journaling in your own hand, but computer journaling is better than
no journaling at all.
DON'T
use construction paper! It's highly acidic.
DON'T
use glue sticks. There is no glue stick on the market that is permanent.
Trust me, I used glue sticks MADE for scrapbooking and now, two years later,
photos and paper are falling off the pages.
DON'T
skimp on the brand and type of glossy photo paper you buy to print your photos.
I bought a fairly reputable brand and when I crop it, it crumbles along the
edge, leaving white paper and glossy dust on everything. It doesn't look
at nice in my layouts and I'm concerned about how long they'll last now.
DON'T
feel you have to keep up with the Joneses or anyone else for that matter.
Your album is a reflection of you and who you are. The best illustration I
have is this: My mother is starting to scrapbook and her style reflects
her as I know her... no-nonsense, not very frilly, not many stickers or bright
colors (well, it IS a heritage album), simple and straightforward. Mine,
on the other hand, reflects me... the latest embellishments, sampling
everything, talking to every one about my newfound passion, lots of color and
MASSIVE amounts of journaling. And that's the greatest thing about this
craft! It is who you are that makes it so special.

I can personally
vouch for fontgod.com! Turnaround is very fast, usually
3 days, customer service is the best I've had in years, and the
font is perfect!
If you're a scrapbooker, there's no better way to journal than
in your own
hand and now you can do it on the computer! See a sample
of my font
on my TIPS page.
