Okay, you've invested time in getting your
photos out and sorted, you've got layout ideas either swirling in your head or
sketched out on paper, you've gotten some supplies... okay, an album and some
adhesive and that pack of really pretty paper, and now it's all just sitting
there.
Why? No time? Sure you have
time!
First, there is no deadline for getting your
album done (unless it's a gift, of course!), so just work at your own pace.
This is supposed to be fun, so if it takes you 4 days (or more) to complete one
page, that's OKAY! Here are some tips for getting some work done on your
album!

Work on your album while you watch TV.
I know a woman who crops all of her photos ahead of time and she does
it while she watches TV at night. She takes her photos, her cropping
tools, a trash can and a TV tray to her chair and crops while she watches!
Then when she sits down to do her pages, she just pulls out the already cropped
photos and does her very simple layouts. I've worked on my albums this way
as well.
Schedule time with your family once or
twice a month that is all yours to work on your album project. I use
my dining room table. I pull out all of my stuff and just have at it.
I'm available for questions or conversation, but my attention is focused on my
project. My husband plays with Brendan or they watch a movie.
Organize a monthly crop at your church or
with another social group to which you belong. Once you become a
scrapbooker, you'll be amazed at how many people already scrapbook. Talk
to your pastor or the president of your local Mom's Club or other organization
you belong to and see if you can use their facilities to host a crop, then
advertise it in the bulletin or newsletter. It doesn't have to be
expensive, either, as long as the room is free. Do a meal potluck style or
ask for $5 from each person then order pizza and drinks or sandwiches from a
local deli.
Find a local scrapbook store (LSS) in your area. To find one, try the
Creating
Keepsakes Store Locator. Your LSS will more than likely have weekly
crops that are minimal in cost and very fun to attend. They can be 4 hours
or longer and usually include use of a diecut machine. I try to to go one
Saturday crop at my LSS (Life's a Scrapbook)
each month. One month, I'll go around noon and stay until midnight.
The next month, I go around 4 or 5 p.m. and stay until midnight.
See if you can find a local scrapbooking buddy. I have one (HI
HEATHER!) and she found me. We get together a few times a month, let our
boys play together, and either sort photos, read magazines, talk scrapbooking,
or actually work on our albums. I've also met a few new scrapbooking
friends at the local store at crops.
Find online resources for locating scrapbooking partners or groups. I
found a great site called Scrapbook
Meetup where you can register to meet local scrapbookers who are also
registered. I've registered and I was notified that others who are in my
area have a scrapbook meet schedule for this month!
Join some online scrapbooking-themed mailing lists. This is a GREAT
way to meet others who share your new craft passion and love to share layouts,
ideas, and support. The list members can really motivate you to do that
next layout that you've been procrastinating about! To find mailing
lists, you can start at groups.yahoo.com
and in the Join a Group section toward the middle of the page, type
"scrapbooking" in the search field. To narrow the search to more specific
groups, add another word. I found the ones I'm on by searching for
"scrapbooking moms" or "scrapbooking mothers" which gives me the groups that are
more focused on moms who scrapbook. You could search for groups of
Christians who scrapbook or homeschoolers who scrapbook, there's groups for
everyone!

I can personally
vouch for fontgod.com! Turnaround is very fast, usually
3 days, customer service is the best I've had in years, and the
font is perfect!
If you're a scrapbooker, there's no better way to journal than
in your own
hand and now you can do it on the computer! See a sample
of my font
on my TIPS page.
