Now you know what
you need and want to buy... where do you get it all? At reasonable prices?
That will still allow you to pay rent and buy food?
Be
selective when you shop for supplies so you can find a good deal.
Manufacturers and retailers seem to think the word "scrapbook" means "triple the
price of this item" and "scrapbooker" means "sucker" so compare prices if you're
on a budget.
I usually do my
"research" online before I ever hit the stores. Online prices can be very
good, but you have to factor in the s/h, so if you find it for $15 at your LSS,
$18 at Michael's but only $13.50 online, be sure you're not paying $6 s/h,
putting it over the Michael's price!

-
Local Scrapbook Store (LSS) - You can
find local scrapbook stores many places, but I usually look here:
Creating
Keepsakes Store Locator. I like this one the best because you can
search zip code OR City and State and get a local list. Most others list
alphabetically by store name which doesn't help you because then you have to
search for your city or one near you.
-
Online Scrapbook Stores - Check my
links page for some online scrapbooking stores. Many have great deals.
-
Home
Depot/Sears/Lowe's etc.
- Remember... if you find it in the scrapbooking store or department, it will
cost more, so if you want tools or embellishment storage, your best bet may be a
large home improvement store. I found my ideal eyelet/fiber/tool storage
case at Home Depot for $13, much less than a similar art storage case that sells
for $35. I also found my button shank cutters for $1.99 at a hobby store
while the online scrapbook stores sell it for $15! Determine what you need
and where the best place to get it would be and check. You'll be surprised
what you find!
-
eBay
- Of course! I've gotten many supplies on eBay for great prices. So
whenever you want something, and if you can wait for a few days, try eBay.
My best advice for finding it on eBay is to do a search in the search field
rather than drilling down to scrapbooking and trying to decide where the seller
listed it.
-
Michael's/Joann's/Craft
Warehouse/A.C.Moore
- These craft/sewing stores sometimes have awesome sales on scrapbooking and
craft supplies, so check your Sunday paper for sales flyers and the occasional
40% off coupon. Michael's
usually has 40% off coupons fairly regularly in Sunday papers (check the front
section if there's no color insert).
Joann's online store has occasional 25% off sales, too, so get on their
mailing lists. Craft Warehouse
and A.C.Moore are regional craft
superstores, so find out if there's one near you.
-
Wal-Mart/Target/Fred
Meyers etc. - I know many people who find what they need at Wal-Mart,
but I've yet to find anything I need other than scissors. Same with
Target. But I did find my rubber mallet (8 oz., the smallest I could find)
at Fred Meyers. I also found chenille yarn and some great wool fibers
there, too. It's worth it to check because their prices are good and can
often beat the LSS.

I can personally
vouch for fontgod.com! Turnaround is very fast, usually
3 days, customer service is the best I've had in years, and the
font is perfect!
If you're a scrapbooker, there's no better way to journal than
in your own
hand and now you can do it on the computer! See a sample
of my font
on my TIPS page.
